Pulse O2: Exploring the Unknowns of Sleep

The mirror bluntly gives you the data: your clothes are (quite) different than they were when you peacefully went to bed and your face has an impression of the Roman Colosseum. Enterprise UX: Designing Organizational Culture Wrap-up

The final theme was all about how to build an organizational culture that supports, empowers, and fosters experience design. Phil Gilbert, general manager at IBM Design; Julie Baher, senior director of UX at Illumina; and Nathan Shedroff, program chair of the MBA in Design Strategy at California College of the Arts, did a fantastic job of closing out the conference themes. Enterprise UX: Enterprise Experimentation Wrap-up

The first theme of day two, wrangled by Bill Scott, VP of business engineering at Paypal, Alissa Briggs, director of user experience at Brigade, and Jeff Gothelf, principal at Neo, was focused on how well, and sometimes how not-so-well, different approaches work at bringing experimentation into an enterprise. There was more overlap between these talks than there was with any of the other themes, which was indeed nice, and a pretty stark contrast from yesterday’s theme. Read more »

Enterprise UX: Craft amid Complexity Wrap-up

This theme focused on how to create engaging, delightful user experiences within the complex reality of an enterprise. Given a topic so broad, it wasn’t all that surprising that the talks from Peter Morville, founder and president at Semantic Studios; Uday Gajendar, principal designer at Peel; and David Cronin, executive design director of Industrial Internet Applications at GE were all a bit different from one another. The talks from Peter and David especially stood out to me, but in very different ways. Read more »

Enterprise UX: Insight at Scale Wrap-up

Anyone who works in the UX field understands how important research is to the UX process, and more generally, to delivering a successful product. Research isn’t a step within the process, but more of a thread throughout the process. Research lets us understand the people using our products, the context of that use, their goals, motivations, pain points, and almost anything else we want to know about their use of what we’re working on.
